The lid has a magnet in it and when the lid closes it pulls the metal switch contacts closed. Listen closely to the harddrive. And it does not allow me to charge the battery, so it has gone dead. But, a good note for others...

It's not my fault if you damage your laptop further. i tried going into the bios and check the power supply and > it detects the adaptor but says its only 50w but i know its 90w. I saw it's a design fault. BIOS failed; if the Power System and electronics components on the motherboard are good, there is chance you have failed BIOS, reprogram or replace the BIOS chip.
And remember, that deterioration happened while they were sitting undisturbed (until I checked them) in storage in their original shipping containers. The fan doesn't come on at all. Any ideas or is this thing really hosed now? Look for the printed circuit board that has the switches for the mouse left and right click which sit just under the blue buttons.
