I suspect that the battery will no longer hold a large enough charge to facilitate start-up on the battery. The 3rd screw on the video also uses that same stud, so it MIGHT just spin. Guess what, it worked like a charm! This feature is not available right now. Check This Out

The floppy LED would flash about 8 or 9 times, then all the LEDs would go out and the charging LED would light. When I go online, they suggest that my memory DIMM might be spoilt. Listen closely to the harddrive.

As Nikhil says, I then dug deeper (YouTube has some good videos on getting access to the cable) and found that the plug into the motherboard had worked slightly loose. I now boots fine. Since the motherboard plug is very close to the hinge, I think repeated flexing of the cable as the laptop is opened and closed can cause the plug to work loose.Anyway, I thought it might be a memory issue.
