but after shutting down the computer would not restart. Your Ram, HDD's, Video card, etc are on different rails or regulators, so they are likely ok. That's a fairly inexpensive and easy-to-install repair. To answer your last two questions, I have had issues with cheap no name supplies and if time and money mean anything don't tinker, just put the new component in. Everything seemed good to go and then I needed to use the restroom. More detail: I recently got myself a new GPU and PSU, and was thinking an additional case fan would help things. Prior to this issue (the week before), I had installed the GPU and PSU successfully, and everything was working great. So replace the caps and SMPS together (if it is bad ). I proceeded to mount the APU then the heat sink & fan. So I guess I'm either looking at a dead PSU or possibly user error.Strange thing, though-- my motherboard has an eight pin aux connection but the old PSU connects to it
Tomorrow I'll take everything out of the case and see what's up. A shorted cap create overload in the SMPS output and as a result the SMPS overload protection may shutdown the SMPS. There is no mention of this code in the manual as far as I can see. I get my case open and get to work installing it in the back of the case.
