I think you have installed latest eset security software which is believed to be causing this issue. hobbles up date,,,, Heck, apparently that fixed a few problems I had. Once the AV removes a trojan/virus, the icon and folder (registry) settings become corrupted and there is no going back. And desktop icons (like before) don't remember to be "Auto arrange icons".
